Clichéd magazines

by Shædow Poet   Sep 24, 2004

Browsing through the local newsagent
For a new and unique publication
I get bombarded with a long shelf of covers
All with the same banal creation.

They show the icons of the New Year
All glimmered and glittered up;
Filled with new products to wear and fashion
And pages of inserted make-up.

Every one promotes thinning outlooks
As much as they try to deny this
They display natters of boyfriend language
And instructions of how to give one kiss.

They discriminate against those known celebrities
Then admirer the ones they hated
The scandals and gossip are their thirst
And the famous celebrities others had dated.

Why can't I ever find a magazine
That is filled with teen issues and real musicians?
One containing real issues of depression
And ones of real suicidal conditions?

Ones that speak in a wise language
That aren't so uptight with the appearance
A Mag that is not that stereotype
Those with beauty, thin and boy-obsessive rants.

But at the end of the day the public loves it
Majority deems that these things are 'cool'
And forever these things will prosper
Clichéd magazines will always rule.

Nice observation, Shadowed Poet. I can't say I've read many of those magazines myself, but that cliche you write about pervades most forms of media today. It's a problem... are the publishers supplying what the majority wants, or simply what they want for us? Well done.
