Helper of Men

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 5, 2004

When I question my heart every now and then
I seek advice and help from the helper of men
She knew many of the people that I knew way back when
I met the one that I would think of again and again

Although she says her faith is not strong
She knows what is right and what is wrong
But she is careful about singing a judgment song
And she seldom holds on to a grudge for very long

I have seen her, in her concern for her family, imitate the caring love
Of the One her philosophy says is impossible to prove the existence of
Does she know you cannot hold in your hands the things from above?
Anymore than the deep sea fish can know the flight of the dove

But as the earth touches the ocean
Her heart touches and feels emotion
Which leads to the promotion
Of her motherly devotion

As the ocean and mother earth touches the air
The fire in the sky spreads its warmth everywhere
But the helper of men does not really care,
Where her love comes from as long it is there

She knows oz never gave anything to the tin man that he didn't already have, and the effect is not the cause
But I wonder if she ever thought about where the tin man got his heart if he didn't get it from the wizard of oz?
