Crazy Love

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 21, 2004

I think I love you, but I’m not crazy about you yet
I think I need you, but I just need some time to forget
About a crazy love, and the crazy one I have met
The love that confused me, and left me a little upset

I never thought I would have to explain,
Or apologize for trying to be sane
To forget a crazy love that seems profane
To be free of the obsession in my brain

The thought, that my crazy love is vain,
Is a thought that leads to too much pain.
In that pain, sanity is difficult to retain
I do not want to make that awful mistake again

Is erotic love nothing more than a vanity?
Leading lovers to the pleasure of insanity?
To be captured by lust is a kind of profanity
But erotic love has a place in humanity

People in love cannot be moved by kindness
It seems we are so obsessed with our blindness
Love is blind. It is much too blind to see
Crazy love can lead to catastrophe

If crazy love were a woman, and if Eros were a man,
How could either of these enter into our Lord’s holy plan?
I believe her sins could be forgiven, for she has loved much
She could be forgiven by’ the divinity’ she wanted to touch.

Love is a powerful thing. Though sometime troubling or puzzleing, one of the greatest gifts God has given us.
