The Light Never Changes

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 3, 2004

There was a popular belief in the days of old
The sun revolved around the earth, or so I am told
In those days, when the truth was controlled
It seems that the truth was rare as gold

Then there were men with bold imagination,
Who dared to change our orderly creation.
And for this they risked their life and salvation
But it seems the truth was their motivation

Though their imagination was very bold
I think they valued the light of truth like gold
I wonder if their precious soul was sold
For this truth the world has come to behold?

Why does this concern me, and what difference does it make?
Only a few were condemned for the truth, for heaven’s sake
That was so long ago. Authority has corrected their mistake
Why must I make martyrs, of those so mercilessly burned at the stake?

Because there are many who try to deny the dark ages.
And its mistakes, I think it is time that we turn the pages
The light of the truth does not depend on whether or not man believes it
The truth is the center of mans existence no mater how he perceives it
