The American Dream

Is this the American dream
Because it’s not as good as it’s supposed to be
Everyone fighting everywhere
Another baby girl is being raped over there
She tried to scream and run away
But they gang raped her any way
They gagged her to the point where she couldn’t breath
But yet we are living the American dream

Is this the American dream?
Because it’s not as good as it’s supposed to be
Another one ran away
To get away from all the pain
Because his daddy ran away
But this isn’t what we are supposed to say
He committed suicide
And we blame him because he died
But yet we are living the American dream

Is this the American dream?
Because it’s not as good as it’s supposed to be
Another child in intensive care
We should keep them all in our prayers
They hit her and said she was in the way
Then picked her up and told her everything was okay
But she was hurt, both inside and out
She hid her tears, and they began to shout
On the inside she really wanted to scream
But yet we are living the American dream

Is this the American dream?
Because it’s not as good and it’s supposed to be
No one is really being that fair
And no one really wants to care
Where everywhere we turn there is someone who hurts
And no one wants to stand up and say a word
But really all there is, is someone that wants to be loved
But there are so many around that are unloved
And yet nothing is really how it seems
But yet we are living the American dream
