The Elders

by !*!Zoe!*!   Nov 19, 2004

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

The children of the world,
Are in such a tragic moment,
The elders live quite happily,
While the young ones are in torment.

The children of the world,
Are in times of violence,
The elders give them no advice,
Not even a proper defense.

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

The adolescents of the world,
Are going through so much,
The elders seem to not even care,
Those teenagers kill people and such.

The adolescents of the world,
Are committing adult crimes,
They elders say it’s not their fault,
And continue making up rhymes.

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

The young adults of the world,
Are applying fruitlessly for jobs,
The elders are trying to act the best,
They are thinking just like Hobbes*.

The young adults of the world,
Are trying to be a parent,
The elders look right through them,
As if they were transparent.

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

The parents of the world,
Are truly trying their best,
The elders are so relaxed,
While child-rearers are so stressed.

The parents of the world,
Want excellent education,
The elders do not think twice,
About the other people’s frustration.

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

The people of the world,
Want to make it a better place,
The elders are not looking
At the anger on their face.

The people of the world,
Have wanted to overthrow,
The monarchy of the elders,
Since a long time ago.

Hurting,
Cheating,
Stealing,
Fleeting.
Wanting,
Crying,
Hopelessly
Dying.

*Hobbes was an English materialist and political philosopher who advocated absolute sovereignty as the only kind of government that could resolve problems caused by the selfishness of human beings (1588-1679)

~*~*~*~For me, the elders are the people you are always fighting against, for you they may be someone else. I would love to know who your "elders" are. Thanks for reading, please tell me your opinions!~*~*~*~
