Dancer in the Night [part 2]

by Unseen Exposure   Nov 24, 2004

Morning awakes the living
As I'm locked up in my cage
He's not happy with my performance
His eyes are filled with rage

My skin is pale and thin
My bones are brittle and weak
He laughs at my broken figure
He claim's my future's bleak

I crawl on my hands and knees
The way I'm taught to do
I bow to signify my loyalty
I'm his worthless, mangled shrew

He taunts me with freedom
And I hiss at him through the bars
His voice becomes angered
His eyes beat down cold and hard

He takes out his whip to threaten
I back off to beg and whimper
Like a frightened puppy when
His paw gets infected by a splinter

My eyes are bloody and lined with red
My lips are chapped and pale
My graceful figure is butchered
Hard to tell if I'm female or male

Inside my cage, I look out
I watch the world pass by
And I wonder what it;s like
To view the broad-day sky

But. alas, I only endure night
For he does not want me to be seen
I'm one of the prisoners
I'm his unearthly, damaged gene

I toss my arms up in pain
And I scream until I'm hoars
For I know there's no escape
From this bewildered, darkened course

Dusk is soon to fall among us
I'm craving one last chance
To breathe the night air in my lungs
And enlighten myself in a dance

It's my purpose in this life
The only task I've been assigned
And only can it be completed
When the stars are up and alligned

So as I dance to the sound of rain
And fall at the sound of thunder
I peacefully sing my lullaby
And embrace those in their slumber

By chance if you wake in the night
Should you look out your window and see
A dancer in the night
That dancing girl .. is me

Know that I am out there
At that my soul is held in his hands
And he has not the heart to free me
He lacks the brain to understand

So if per chance I stumble
If perhaps you see me trip
If you see my broken body
Flinch at the hit of a whip

Do not say a word to me
All I ask is that you look up and pray
For the soul that cannot love
For the one who lost her way.

The eptime of despair...I dread the wail of so lost and flayed a soul. You make another bleed to end its agony. Excellent
