One day...

by Shædow Poet   Nov 26, 2004

Looking down at her hands,
I notice prominent red cuts
The invisible remainder of blood
Covered with skin, reforming crust...

... One day I'll tell her to stop
Tell her that slashing won't end the pain
One day I will ask her
"What if you missed, and hit a vein?"

One day I'll tell my friends
To stop insulting the thing she does
I'll tell them they don't understand
This painful addiction she forever loves.

One day I'll talk to her
And see why she's so unhappy
I will let her laugh and spill some tears
And show her how good life can be.

One day I'll at least say hi
Trying to brighten up her gloomy day
Hoping she won't go too far
She wouldn't kill herself, I pray.

One day I may do these things
And many, many more
But I am always reminded
That one day it will be too late.
