Sleep Well

by Unseen Exposure   Nov 28, 2004

Blackened incisions scarred over
Now peeling back with blood
White draped sheets so clean
Are now stained with crimson mud

A child inside it's mother
Kicks to escape from her womb
The way I scream and bleed
To find a way out of this tomb

Listening to an angelic voice
Tempting me to follow through
But there's nothing in this coffin
That could lead me back to you

"Kill him, hand around his neck
Steal the blood right from his veins
Run away after completion
And leave no un-bloodied remains"

Am I monster, am I worthy?
These voices trick my mind
Stay here / No, run!
Come here / Leave it all behind

Oh, confusion has set in
And there's no hiding from it now
Might as well stand up straight
And take your muted vow

Hide the bloodied, crimson knife
Under your pillow, and close your eyes
His cacophonous words of anger
Are now silent, malicious cries

Sleep Well, My Love
Sleep Well.
Your journey is through.
I wish I could have saved you.
