Missed kiss

by Poetically Speaking   Dec 3, 2004

The fog thickens across the bay
as I peer through the silhouette
hoping to spot you in the light
waiting to see your breath

the damp air flows around me
the chill rubs my skin
I see your reflection in the water
your face is a pale dim

I stumble to speak a word
yet it is captured by the dark
you slowly fade back
more and more distant from my heart

the damp stones beneath my feet muffle my pace
as I near the shore to greet you with a warm embrace

gently the fog settles along the London street
far from the place we were due to meet
I soon lose you through the grey mist
wishing I could have seen you for one last kiss

    beautiful.

    especially liked this stanza:
"I stumble to speak a word
yet it is captured by the dark
    you slowly fade back
more and more distant from my heart"

    really simply beautiful.
