Afraid

by Alissa   Dec 3, 2004

I'm afraid of you walking away from me with nothing but a goodbye.
I'm afraid of the times that might one day come when you wont be by my side.
I'm afraid of the moments when we aren't together,
Afraid of the girls who might be better than ever.
I'm afraid of the things that you might stop saying,
because they are the words that keep me going strong.
I'm afraid of the nights that you might forget,
the ones I've been thanking God for all along.
I'm afraid of the kisses that you might one day regret when you realize there's really nothing great about me.
I'm afraid of the hugs that I might stop getting when I am no longer the one you want to see.
I'm afraid of waking up one day and not having you in my life.
I'm afraid of you leaving me because I'd have to sit alone and think "Damn I wanted to be that guy's wife."
But what I'm afraid of most is not getting to see you and to have to live without that would be worse than not living at all.
Because every time I look into those ocean eyes-
deeper and deeper into love I fall.
