Arrows to Rockets

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 12, 2004

A very long time ago
When? I don’t know
Man made a tool
Destined to rule

Tools made to control his prey
Creatures that he would slay
There had to be an engineer
To make an arrow or a spear

Tools for peace, tools for wars,
Were the tools of our ancestors.
Now we are more sophisticated
With more advances anticipated

We still make tools that project
Tools to heal tools to protect
We have projected past the moon
We will project farther soon

We can project a rocket or a word
In a matter of seconds to be heard
Progressing technology that will not cease
Lord help us all progress to heavenly peace

I thought this was a good poem with a provocative subject. Technology in itself it is inanimate but, like so many other things, it has the capacity to be used by people for great good or great evil. As it becomes more advanced, so do its risks as well as its benefits for humanity.

Thank you very much, Michael, for your recent comments on my poems.
