Different People

by Your eyeliner is laughable   Dec 12, 2004

I met a girl with hazel eyes,
A talent and a dream,
She hung around street corners,
Waiting to be seen,
And although she was a night worker,
She was more than what she seemed..

I met a lady,
Swathed in pearls and expensive coats so fine,
And though she was quite beautiful,
She didn't have a mind,
Decisions were made for her,
By gentlemen unkind.

I met a boy with a smile so wide,
A far away look on his face,
A s p l i f f in his hand, he'd never been happier,
He said it was personal taste.
He had no job, He'd spent his last dollar,
He seemed like a right basket case.

Finally I met a man,
Who would sell his soul for gold,
He never had time for love,
Or so I was told.
And though he had money,
He'd grow old alone,

This is what I see in the world,
So what the hell?
I'm in love with glamour and glitz,
Or can't you tell?
