Lost Cause

Lord, You are the cause, and we are the effect
We are free to choose, we are free to select
The causes we support, the causes we reject
The causes we ignore, or the causes we protect

The cause of the darkness is turning from light
The effect of turning, causes the dark night
O Lord the effect of Your Love shines bright
But the cause of darkness keeps it from sight

Lord, You know I have turned to let the darkness in
Turning to a lost cause, the dark effect of sin
Even in the dark night, You see where I have been
Fighting for a lost cause, I know I cannot win

How can a man stop the world from turning?
How can man stop his passions from burning?
Teach me O Lord, I will be thankful for learning
How to keep the darkness of sin from returning

Though the effects of sin has a very high cost
The light of Your love cannot be forever lost
For You Lord, are the cause and we are the effect
Of the Light of Love only the blind would reject
