God's Love

by Tina   Dec 15, 2004

The preacher held me gently as he spoke to our church,
Then he smiled sweetly and said don’t worry my child this wont hurt.
He baptized me with holy water, which is the tears from gods own eyes,
When he sent his only child to Earth only to be crucified.
Some will never know the sacrifice God gave us for our sins,
To love us so much to kill the only one of his kin.
The preacher tightens his grip as I start to move around,
Giggling and squealing making quite the sound.
My mother looked so angelic with her peaceful smile,
Making her heart beat with love that will stay there all the while.
I wonder if she noticed what God had done for us,
Showing us how much he loved us doing what he must.
Watching his son being beaten and deceived,
To give his only son to us, making us want to believe.
I wonder if she thought somewhere in her mind,
What she would do if she had to give me up for the good of all mankind.
I bet she didn’t notice, or let it even register in,
That she knew the great sacrifice god has given for our sins.
They take God’s tears and put them away,
As if we should just celebrate today,
For God’s special gift that is now in our presence,
That we shouldn’t be sad but smile with out hesitance.
So we smile and celebrate and all show our love,
And God looks down and smiles from up above.
He knows that we see a glimpse of his greatest sacrifice,
When parents hold their babies and love them with all their hearts, without thinking twice.
