To Gandhi

by FTS Miles   Dec 16, 2004

Who are you who in all humility
Deigns to be great in your simplicity,
But therefore in peaceful opposition
To a world of arrogant destructive complexity?
You must be the Great One...

What makes you dare to be different
And tempt martyrdom at the spiteful hands
Of the reactive unwise masters of regimented chaos?
It must be enlightenment...

How can selfless love and peaceful autonomy
Be a flourishing wave to the breakwater
Of violent condescension and oppression?
It must be wisdom...

Oh Roy, your legacy is fruitful and prime
In the loving tender hands of your Son.
Alas 'tis our loss that such an heir is unsafe
In our vindictive jealous youthful talons.

Your poise can only reflect your once again talent that has so won me.
Elegant and beguiling to get lost within your words.
    In short-excellent Miles.
