100ft Suicide Jump

by Nici   Dec 18, 2004

One day she walked in to the town
The people she passed, all gave her a frown
Up to the top of the car park she went
To stand and prepare for the 100ft descent

The air grew cold, her tears trickled down
Her face as she stood, eyes fixed on the ground
No note did she leave as no-one would care
Her life in her eyes was not worth being spared

To the edge she stepped closer, determined to jump
Wanting to land with an echoing THUMP
But out in the distance she heard a new voice
A woman ran closer to say ‘you have a choice’

As she approached the girl could soon see
This woman in uniform seemed to care deeply
She came and she stood right next to the edge
And stayed there to listen and give her a pledge

A pledge to help in any way that she could
For as long as it took she stayed where she stood
The girl turned her face and new that she cared
Then her thoughts went from upset to being so scared

With comfort and help the girl stepped away
From the edge of the roof where she stood that day
Detained by the woman who worked for the Police
Escorted to a car, where her troubles soon ceased

This was a really good poem. Ihni how many people go thru this each day. but writing about it, and knowing some are saved is a great relief. Keep up the GrEaT work.
