Perfection

by DeludedHonesty   Dec 26, 2004

Why is it,
That people fear,
What they can’t,
Understand?

Why is it,
That people set,
Their standards,
So high?

If we expect,
Perfection,
Then why encourage,
Difference?

We are told,
To be ourselves,
When society tells,
Us to be “normal”.

If we act,
Differently,
We are considered,
Freaks.

If we look,
Different than,
Models we are,
Branded as ugly.

But still we,
Are told to be,
Different when society,
Wants perfection.

Perfection,
Is unattainable,
So why,
Strive for it?

Perfection,
Drives so many,
Over the,
Edge.

Perfection,
Is fool’s gold,
In the mine,
Of life.

It is fake,
And yet we,
Seek it’s false,
Beauty.

Now I will,
Ask,
What is perfect,
About perfection?
