A girl named hope

by jescelle   Dec 28, 2004

This poem is about today when i went to court. i was waiting for them to call me in and allow my friends parents to get custody of me (if your wondering why read some of my other poems) and thats when i saw her. this little girl who was also waiting to see the judge, and this is what i saw...

Every time i looked over she was smiling,
and every time her father picked up his phone,
every time she went to hug him,
i found she was truly alone.

but as i sat there,
her mother whispering into her ear,
i couldn't help but look at her,
i couldn't help but overhear.

the overpowering look in her eyes,
the afterglow of her shimmering face,
the way she smiled, no compromise,
she only longed for someones embrace.

i looked over after mom and dad when in,
and i smiled.
her eyes let go of their strain and hurt,
its as if shed come from miles.

Before then.
i found it hard to trust not only me but everyone around me,
i cried in the middle of the night for what seemed like forever.
before then i couldn't see.

i think I saw god in that little girls face,
she found me when no one else was looking.
i think i saw faith in that little girls eyes,
she broke all of my confusion.

now i think i can be happy,
now i think i can cope,
thanks to a little girl,
a little girl named HOPE.

i was so scared today, i was afraid of the consequences of leaving my father, but i did it. i signed the papers, and now I'm free... but i don't think i would have made it without the angel of HOPE, that little girl who sat across from me while i awaited my fate... thank you so much, whoever you are, you don't know how much you've done for me.

That whole poem was beautiful. But, I more than anything loved that one part of the stanza. It was inspiring. Great job. One of my favorite's so far.
