Sculptor's Angel

by Amilo   Jan 4, 2005

A passionate young sculptor's sad love affair put into art...

-Sculptor's Angel-

Scarred hands embrace her face -
the hands of a sculptor
her wings - smoothness of ivory
unscathed,
touched by none other –
none other than him,
her creator.
none other than him,
her lover.

A broken heart weeps for her
the tears of a mourner
grief,
naked and uncovered
weeps for none other –
none other than her,
his angel.
none other than her,
his lover.

Silently, his mouth kisses hers
her lips, stone cold –
the lips of a statue.
The passion
revived from memories old
for he loves none other…
none other than her,
his memory
none other than her,
his lost lover.

“I will live the rest of my days
alone
then one day, we shall be together.
farewell, my love…
my angel of stone.”

    Beautifull and entirely original.
You've captured the indulging passion of a master at 'is best.

Actually, it is about a sculptor who lost the one he loved, and is now carving a stone angel in honor of HER... he is not carving himself.

I think FTS Miles got the closest... but thanks everyone for your comments .. :)

    Just typing out loud here...

Is he sculpting his headstone or grave memorial?

This poem really made made me think of what inspired you to write it in the first place... really enigmatic work!
