Great Tragedy

by Unseen Exposure   Jan 4, 2005

I think of parents telling their children
"These are the things to fear
Strangers, Lightning, Bullets.."
But gigantic waves, you never hear

So kids went out during low tide
Collecting treasures and shells
And no one could have warned them
About the over-sized ocean swells

Moving too quickly paced
The was no confirmed way to see
That thousands, millions of people
Would be effected by such a tragedy

So an unconfirmed amount of souls
Unwillingly gave away their lives
And somewhere on a lonely ocean
A lonesome baby survives

I can't bare to think about
The way people's lives were torn in two
What a horrific story to hear
It's unimaginable ... but sadly, true

Now thousands of souls wander streets
Cursing the deadly waters for its ways
But there's no way to turn back time
Their lives so black and white, swiftly went to gray

How I wish that there was something
Something special that I could do
But aside from money, my prayers, and hope
I just have to believe they'll make it through.

I dedicate this to anyone who was directly or indirectly effected by the Tsunami that recently murdered so many lives. May your souls, friends, lovers, sons, daughters, wives, husbands, mothers, fathers ... rest in peace.

A worthy peice of recognition and respect to those who parished in the disaster. A tragic subject to write a piece on, therefore the more beautiful. I really, really admired the lines,
"So an unconfirmed amount of souls
    Unwillingly gave away their lives
And somewhere on a lonely ocean
    A lonesome baby survives"
The souls unwiling to give away their lives, I just thought that was so sadly beautiful, Great job

Oh that was good. It's not often you read a poem about the things happening nowadays. Good job!
