Fly

by Stef   Jan 5, 2005

A slight thought that burns deep, right to the bone
Letting dark thoughts and misery seep in through the skin.
Amidst all this agony and mischief, a heart lays beating
Broken, but still pounding instead this pale chest
Belonging to an angel who, although she has fallen
Breathes on.

Her beautiful halo shaken, her graceful wings tattered
Her legs unstable from the lack of use they’ve been given
Due to her wings that enabled her to soar.
Standing unsteadily on her feet among the gravestones
In a graveyard full of the less fortunate and the forgotten
She shines.

Covered in dirt and mistakes, scars and failures
Alone, with no one to help her back up to her world.
She cries, but her hope fills up the night sky with stars
For this empty soul will find love again somehow.
In this world they call mislead, she will show everyone as
She rises.

Rises above this world, the one that took her tiny life
The one that scarred her wrists, stained her floors
And tore down her success with immeasurable failures.
A tiny angel, lost in a sea of depression, now smiles
Because even with her shaken halo and her tattered wings…
She’ll fly.

I honestly don't understand why this has been voted a 1! I think it could be tweaked a bit and made better, but it doesn't deserve a one! I love the descriptions and the hopelessness conveyed through your words! Good job~Holly
