Happiness is a Feeling, Not a Place

by TiFFanY   Jan 6, 2005

I saw a homeless man one day humming a song.
i didn't think anything of it.
two weeks later i saw the same man.
same clothes.
same spot.
same sign.
i gave him a dollar and said god bless, he replied with a smile, "Thank you sir"
i went home and couldn't sleep.
when i gave that man the dollar he was so happy.
a dollar isn't much to us, but its everything to him.

from that day on i look at life differently.
i was finally happy.
i sang more.
cried less.
and always wore a smile.

one month later,
walking down the road i spotted the homeless man.
i ran up to him with a childlike enthusiasm.
i stopped in front of him looked into his eyes and just as i was about to say thank you for saving my life,
he interrupted by saying "Your welcome."
He dropped his head and began to hum...
...not a worry in the world.
