Whatever it Takes

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Jan 22, 2005

The smell of the dew
On the early-morning grass
The sky shining bright
Clearer than spotless glass.

The football team
Walking out to the practice field
Like medival knights
Their teamwork shining armor, their pride a shileld.

The whistles of the coaches
In between plays and water breaks
And the undying loyal team
Giving whatever it takes.

The gentle click of the shoulder pads
With every perfect tackle
The autumn leaves across the field
The players' feet making them crackle.

And the faithful team managers
The water girls at heart
Await any given instruction
Doing their best in their own part.

The hope of an undefeated season
Is promise that no one makes
But we know that our team
Will do whatever it takes.

~*Dedicated to all of my "brothers" (the football team), my boyfriend (congrats on making top ten best linemen in the state) my co-managers (aka 'water girls) - and last but not least, to the head coach, who is (and always will be) my "other dad". I love you all.*~

~*I'll miss you next year, Levi (and all of the other seniors), but I hope that you get to play college ball at Purdue. And don't forget: I'll always think of you as my big brother! You're the best.*~
