The Trap

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Jan 28, 2005

Caught in a trap,
Just a number.
Wondering when life,
Will take you under.

Not a real care,
Just a statistic.
How can it be?
It feels so realistic?

Parents who don't care,
No one for whom I can depend.
Wishing my life,
Would come to an end.

I see happy people,
Of course, they're all free.
What do they think,
When they look at me?

A lost child?
Someone in pain?
Do they laugh?
Do they wonder my name?

Does it even occur to them,
I've seen more in my short life?
Things I don't care to mention,
Things that will make you die?

Just another statistic,
Another runaway kid.
I wonder if they think of me,
As they lay THEIR child in its crib.

I'm a human too!
I want more than what I've got!
My parents don't care,
If I live or rot.

Children are precious,
They are the future of our world.
Think of that the next time,
You see that cold and hungry little girl.

All they need is love,
It carries them all of the way.
It kills my soul to see,
How kids are treated now days.

****For all the kids, and young adults who think no one cares, some of us do!!!***
