A Childhood of Memories

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Mar 19, 2005

Pigtails and Pony tails,
M & M's and Nehi drink.
Bicycle with training wheels,
Never stopping to think.

Fishing on the weekends,
With my older brother,
Riding dirt bikes down the road,
Getting a scolding from our mother.

Trips to the local store,
In daddy's car we went,
Smiles on all our faces,
Daddy spending his last cent.

Summer days spent lazily,
Winters spent sledding downhill,
Childhoods filled with memories,
Forever our hearts will be filled.

I remember the sun shining on my face,
I can remember a time with no worries,
I remember chasing fireflies at night,
And never being in no big hurry.

I wish I could go back to those days,
And relive them one more time.
The peaceful innocence of childhood,
Where everything is a game or a rhyme.

I do believe you are a great poet for the works you produce, this one not being any different. Good job, 5/5. I would appreciate it if you could read "Fireflies in Jars" and comment on it....it is a poem about my own childhood.
