Beyond These Walls

Beyond these walls we will find
All the things others have hid behind
We will discover truth in hidden places
We will see people with tear-streaked faces

Beyond these walls we will learn to breathe
We will learn to live with being deceived
We will learn to love and be hurt, and still keep trying
We will learn to let go even if were still crying

Beyond these walls we will learn to say what’s never been said
We will stop worrying and start looking ahead
Together we’ll find what we never looked for
We will notice importance in words like never before

Beyond these walls we will learn how to cope
We will heal our scars with faith and hope
We will find meaning in our own tears
And find comfort in withered fears

Beyond these walls we will become aware
We will separate cruel from unfair
Never will we let someone weep so we can belong
We will not stand behind them we will stand along

Beyond these walls we will learn to be on our own
Learn to accept, love, trust and that were never alone
We will not follow, but walk along our own trail
And we will succeed even if at first we do fail
