Wishing you were here (doesn't make it so)

by Timothy   Feb 3, 2005

I made a mistake, a dire wrong,
One night of stupidity, and you are forever gone;
I can not change what happened in a blink,
But...I have a lifetime to sit and think.

You were my loveliness, my angelic dance partner,
You shot me through the heart the moment I met you, and I was truly the martyr;
I put you on a pedestal, an exalted throne,
We experienced everything together; my, how we had grown!

The children are brilliant, and dare I say beautiful?
Perfection existed, and I knew not the word: "cruel";
But last night I was educated, drinking and driving, with you in tow,
And...wishing you were here (doesn't make it so).

I made a mistake, a dire wrong,
One night of stupidity, and you are forever gone;
I can not change what happened in a blink,
But...I have a lifetime to sit and think.

    This one was very heartfelt, I could feel the pain. Worded perfect and the flow of it was absolutely beautiful. Very sad but a beautiful write. lol
