Just to make you understand

Jaded teardrops linger in my eyes,
they're barren, yet longing to be shed,
but my heart will not tell of the emptiness I feel,
so I shall write it all down instead.

I want to tell you how much I truly care,
but the feelings, they choke in my lungs,
I want to tell you how much you hurt me,
but the words, they triple on my tongue.

My lips, they whisper mendacious words,
they don't say what my eyes want you to see,
just how much I sincerely miss you,
the person you used to be.

In this life I know we all go through changes,
and I know that people grow apart,
but even though you've grown out of our friendship,
you haven't grown out of my heart.

What you and I had was pure perfection,
and it hurts me to think of those times,
so now I'm stuck here,
choking the pain by writing you these pointless rhymes.

I want to look you deep in the eyes,
yet I'm scared of what they're bound to hide,
I know that I'll just see an empty space,
and it eats me up inside.

It's been so long since I've heard you laugh,
all your beauty has become so shallow,
and the smile you always put on your face,
it doesn't make you happy, it's hollow.

Something is kicking you while you're down,
and you try to escape from it all,
I know how it feels to be left on your own,
so let me catch your tears as they fall.

Let me kiss your pain away,
just reach out and feel the touch of my hand,
I will hug you just like I used to,
just to make you understand...

Make you understand how I miss our friendship,
that I don't want you out of my range,
I want to make you understand that I,
I just hate the way you've changed...
