I cry for no reason at all

by Timothy   Feb 14, 2005

I see a poor child staring through a window,
At an unattainable plaything in a toy store mall;
His mind is miles away, as he pretends,
And I cry for no reason at all.

I listen to a rhythmic melody,
My heart nearly shatters from the soothing lull;
It's the timeless tragedy of a death tearing apart a love,
And I cry for no reason at all.

I watch an elderly man playing Solitaire at his kitchen table night after night,
I see his wall phone, that never receives a call;
His dreary face droops a little more each night,
And I cry for no reason at all.

I feel the weight of the world press down upon me,
Out of nowhere, I must let the tears fall;
There's a billion tragedies out there,
Perhaps...I cry for a reason, after all.
