Peter Pan

by SmilingShadow   Feb 15, 2005

Sometimes I wish I were like Peter Pan
Off in a far away fantasy land
Playing with faeries, no troubles, no worries
Flying away to places only in stories
Timeless forever, no future, no past, only today in my wake
To be a carefree child once again is the only wish that I make
But I have seen too much and gone too far
Falling again and again like a shooting star

My peter pan fantasy land has been washed away by my tears
And with the sparkles and joys of life, my smile has long disappeared
The constant stress, the never-ending sadness, hidden behind my face
Wondering when this jigsaw of my life will finally fall into place
So for now I’ll just surround myself with a world of dreams
Until it’s time to wake up, praying someone hears my screams
For reality is too real with its horrors of life
And all hope has vanished, leaving only strife
Peter pans and fantasy lands live only in the mind
Which is where I shall stay, for all of my time
