Footprints In The Sand

A gentle breeze caresses my cheek
As I stand there on that shore
Imprinted on the sand, what I seek
Footsteps to follow forever and more

I behold the setting of the sun so red
I suddenly know what is right
Determined I lift up my head
And I know why my heart feels light

Those footsteps are there to save
And to follow them is my choice
For them has been my everlasting crave
And the message of my heart’s voice

So I put my foot on the trace in the sand
I’m ready to follow the right way
And I know there will always be a helping hand
With me each and every day

Into the sand I feel my foot sink
I am glad to begin my true journey
Between God and I this is the link
For I give him my heart’s only key

Now for many years I’ve been following
And it has never been an easy road
Sometimes I cry and sometimes I sing
A few times I’ve fallen because of my load

But in the end it’s all been worth it
To think of what God has done for us all
In the world a flicker of light he has lit
So that none should stumble and fall

As I look back on the journey I’ve made
I realize it’s heaven I now await
I’m thankful for the price he paid
And I pray you’ll understand before it’s too late
