Living in the Ground

by Orion   Feb 22, 2005

There are a people,
Cold and grey,
Who live in the ground
This very day

They started out normal...
Like you and me
They lived normal lives
As normal as normal can be

Then one day
They became rather enraged,
Like something inside them
Just began to change.

Their heads became enlarged
Their toes all brown and scraggly
Their hands like dinner plates
Their clothes torn and raggedy.

And then these people
Who now live in the ground
Began to dig holes
Big, deep, and round.

They dug and they dug
Until they became tired
They then looked around
And realized they were mired

They were stuck in this hole
With no way to get out
But unlike you or I
They didn't begin to pout

They dug themselves deeper
And began to search for food
They made tunnels and caves
And became somewhat of a brood

And now these people
That live in the earth
Have live for ages
Many times giving birth

They have new little ones
Who dig themselves around
Yet to this day
They have not come to the top of the ground

For like I said
They are stuck down there
But still they live on
Without any despair
