Life's Last Thread

by Toni   Feb 25, 2005

- The imagery from this came from a dream I had a long time ago

I reach out to try and find something
That I can hold on to
But all I see is broken dreams, stitches
Filled with glue

And there is nothing, so I will fall
Alone in misty depths
Hands forever outstretched towards
Suffocating breaths

It all seems simple but nothing is really
How it appears to be
Hanging off the crevice of hope
Is a lost soul that is me

And I’m falling…again, into the dark
But I know the dark must be braved
Swaying trees lend coarse branches
But I’m too lost to be saved

I look above, and they’re trying to help
They whisper into my mind
But they are rooted… in their own ground
And I am left behind

The wind blows softly upon scorched ears
Brushing back my hair
Burnt-out ears from hateful words
And promises; empty, bare

I try again to reach out in the night
But hope is so evasive
So instead I cling to life’s last thread
A thread torn and abrasive

Rasping words are pushing, pulling
Clawing at my thread
I know that I must win this fight
This battle in my head

Thankyou for reading, any comments or votes would really mean a lot :-( xxx
