Ocean of Uniformity

by Mira   Mar 7, 2005

Water
Drags me down
Tossed and turned
Freezing water
Swallows and spits me out
Confusion, panic
Thrashing arms and legs
I hate the water
Why am I here?
Baffled
Mind of screams
Why am I here?
Cold, merciless water
Up and down
Tranquility besets me
How am I here?
Those people
They disliked me
Desperate to be like them
Grasping to do what they do
Became like them
I lost myself
Lost in the ocean of uniformity
I was them
Swept into the flow
I see what they are
I hate them
I desire me
Drifting into that realization
Change is needed
Black out
Conscious
Washed up on shore
Another chance
Ecstatic, I try to stand
Weariness
Manage to sit up
Feeling so tired and cold
Sunshine
I feel the sand
I feel warmth
I am me
I won’t be washed away
Into the deep ocean of uniformity
Of them
Sitting in the sun with myself
Satisfied with me
