Submission to Death

I won’t give up or in
I’m so sorry I said I would
It just got so hard last night
I just felt like it could

But I’m relieved that I didn’t

Death is too painful
For the mind of mine
And quite frankly it appears to me
That in life there’s such short time

Days past by around me
Turning into weeks
And I begin to realize again
I’ll have to silence every word I speak

No more talking for me
For my words can or will be held against me
No more screaming for me
Even as I collapse on one knee

I can’t say it enough
Thanks for standing beside me
You’ll never know how much that means to me
For all the thoughts kept inside me

I’ll turn into a shadow
That dances expressively on your wall
Miming all the words I want to say
As I start to fall

And as I start to fall
I still be oh so quiet
Waiting for the people
Around me to cause a riot

But no, as I hit the ground
I shatter so much like glass
No one pays any attention to me
They step on me like grass

Well not is different between now and then
Besides the fact I’ve stopped speaking to you my friend.
I just want you to know that this story of mine,
I’m not ready to end.
