Master of Illusion

by wayne t   Mar 30, 2005

Inside of my head lives a master of illusion,
Visions of life I see distorted beyond reason,
Dreams of passion suddenly turn to horror,

Twisting feelings inside, my heart turning cold,
Master controlling me, making me fear all love,
Loving a woman natural to most, insanity to me,

For instead of tender moments, I see, feel pain,
My mind is his toy, clouding my eyes with haze,
Cannot see past his control guiding me into the,

Entangled maze of loves wasteland inside me,
Illusions of steely knives cutting out my soul,
Whenever I breakout and become enslaved by-

Sensuously chained by passion leading into love,
Erotic moments spent with a woman begin to turn,
Mind shutting down my body, for it fails to respond,

For the illusion sent forth by his control, has hit home,
Depriving me of manhood, leaving a despondent shell,
Visions of manly failures continue haunting my own hell,

The master of illusion has created in my mind his view,
Of a love tortured broken man hideously becoming me,
Master of Illusion has control of my mind, I do concede.

I truly admired those lines, and I really liked the way you referred to love throughout this poem, as if it were almost evil. Perhaps I have interpreted it wrong, and if I have, I apologise. Excellent write.
