Gray Mirror

by Momentary Relapse   Mar 31, 2005

My world is gray, cold
I enter my broken home
A mirror hangs upon a wall
Dust coats everything here

Walking away I leave this place
Staring up I wonder why
Always repeating my questions
I find myself returning
Shadows greet me when I come

A dark form materializes
Flipping on the lights I stare
Someone gazes back with flat eyes
Black cloaks the still form

A hysteric laugh escapes my lips
I pass the still figure
Falling onto the floor face up
Grayness welcomes my tired mind
Dust covers what is left in my home

Light has long ago died in this broken place
Standing I stare into my world of gray
No emotions stir inside what is left
I turn needing to escape

A mirror hangs upon a wall
It shows what long ago happened
Sunshine fills my home with love, safety
Laughter fills these rooms securely
I look away not wanting to remember
The past is no longer important

I leave my dead home
A broken mirror lays on the floor
