Happily Ever After

by You already take me there...   Apr 1, 2005

Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella,
Rhymes and fairy tales.
Jewel-encrusted tiaras.
Successes without fails.

Pixies, ogres, unicorns.
The princess gets the deal.
All these nice stories you tell,
Too bad that they aren't real.

In life there is no magic,
Or a spare happy ending.
There's just all this uncertainty,
Your heart is never mending.

Prince Charming is a myth.
Once upon a time, a lie.
To trick once wishful little girls
Into simply wondering, "why?"

Why things don't work for them.
Why they never got to see
What it's like to be the princess
That they always wanted to be.

"Happily ever after,"
Phrase I wish I never heard.
Cause when all is said and done,
"Fake" is the only word.

Sure, sometimes I do wish
That magic, I could feel
Of true love, potions, pixie dust.
But these dreams are none too real.

Because I really hate to say it,
But the truth remains to be.
This happily ever after
Will never happen to me.
