Because of You

by Corey Gentry   Apr 2, 2005

If you weren’t the only one
Maybe I could forget your eyes
If I didn’t love with you all my heart
I could so easily break these ties

That hold me back, and keep me in October
Stop me from ever feeling right
Fill my mind with memory's images
Of how perfect we were on that fateful night

But life goes on, we both know
And, in time, it will kill you and I
But that’s what you agreed to
When you made me say goodbye

So I’ll let you off, with one final fight
And, since this is what you need, I’ll forget about you
I’ll forget all of the secrets, all of the lies
I’ll pick everything up, and find someone new

You have to understand, this is not my choice
I want nothing more than to hold you once more
But you’ve long forgotten what there is to hold onto
And you’ve already locked that door

For you, and only you, I will let go
I will forget the only love I’ve ever known
I will erase all the memories of you
I’ll slowly watch my heart turn to stone
.. Because of you..
