Another nightime improvisation

by Justin Groft   Apr 12, 2005

Indecision haunts me; binds me to a cold, dark, hell
there is no way to escape its gaze
each eye turned
towards a central theme
each bend in the road
sharper then its predecessor

i try to lean in for one last kiss
before the candle dies in drowning
the wax runs over,
the table is set ablaze
i can feel my lips on fire;
i can see them chip away

piece after piece of flesh
stained and broken
lying on the floor
entwined in the curtains
the sounds of keyboards
fill the stagnant air
freshly wrapped moments trapped in some coffee house

i want to fall into your arms
and feel your warmth
i want to understand
why its you i see,
in almost every f**king story;
in almost every f**king song
pounding away in my eardrums,
i cannot forget that sound

the only thing i want to do anymore is erase
wipe that chalk off the board and throw away the instrument
its hard to sing the melody
when your mouth is shattered
its even harder
when theres no one to sing it to

another cup of tea
for the loser in the corner
another blot of ink
for the pirate on the page
another f**king heart for the life who stole the first one
another pot of gold
for a dead and faded rainbow

i cant stop screaming,
and i cant find the mute button
why cant anyone find the chord, and cut the damn thing
id rather produce static than this deafening bulls**t
some useless dribble about dying alone and broken

and in complete retrospect, id wait forever for any kind of moment

and id never adhere the line,
if i could get past their eyes
wearing that veil about your face, uncovering some spacial warmth
a fire burned out and dampened with time and place
each night puts a little more ice
on the site, deadening the flesh

our lips are stained
approved blood maps and trails
chapped lips and chap stick candy
ignorance is f**king bliss
improvisation is the only
advice you'll ever get
"its all fun and games until someone loses an eye"
