Chasing the shadow (Part. 1?)

by Shædow Poet   Apr 14, 2005

Thin twine weaved ‘round shaved wood
A hat upon my head to obstruct the sun
Black boots clawed onto my stumpy legs
Swiveling my net and banging my boots
Reaching the gloom,
Swarming the light.

I’m Catching shadows!
My shadow that departed my toes
Within the meadow
‘Fore dawn becomes dusk.
I’m catching my shadow!
A neglected, noticed echo.

T’was night when I fought a fight
With my twin of mist and muggy views
He weaved and wound until he broke free
And fled it fled, to catch it I tried
Alas I failed as it squeezed outside my door
It blended the night and faded some more.

And now I miss my dear friend
Who displeased my soul
For a piece of my essence was within its grace
I need it back, my ecstasy to see the day
My body lacks omnipotence,
Within the suns violence.

I’m catching my shadow!
It departed, cholerically incensed
Thou loved dearly and missed
If only it knew of my grief
I need my shadow!
Return, good fellow, so I can be whole.
