To Young To Die

by ryan   Apr 25, 2005

There are so many voices out there
Instructing you on how to make choices,
Will you listen to your preacher?
The pope?
A teacher?
Jesus says to live with love
School trains you to achieve above
Parents demand that you obey
Cool kids want you to do what they say
Friends just want to have some fun,
Passing their days in the magical summer sun
The boss tells you to work good and long,
Make your brain and body strong.
Society asks us to conform without question,
Surrendering lives to an arbitrary direction.
So my question is this:
How am I supposed to know how to choose,
Do I just reach in the hat,
and pull out my future?
As I once read, every person has 1,000 lives ahead of them, but only one will be realized.
So can I safely put my hope in one source of direction, and know it will deliver me intact to wherever I'm going?
Because I've thought it over, and I've decided
That I'm just too young to die.
