When the Night Comes

by Garrison   Apr 26, 2005

When the night comes,
I will be ready for you
And when day turns into night
She will be mine too.

I go to bed each night
Preparing myself for the dream
Of dancing with her
Or so it would seem.

She tells me that she needs
My warmth and my smile
Though she's gone when I wake
It will only be for a while.

I lay in bed at the twilight
And listen to the song
That will draw me closer to her
And tell me I belong.

We'll hold each other close
In quiet, breathless prayer
And greet the morning sun
And say it's not fair.

She makes me feel
Like a true man could
With the right woman next to you
As it always should.

My feet are like feathers
And I dance on air
The way I move with her
I could be Fred Astaire.

At the end of the dance
The music will stop
I will bow out of gratitude
And walk out on top.

Our bodies are separate
But together at heart
Until I can see her face
I am now apart.

But the dance we do
In the dream each night
Will hold me over
Till she's once again in sight.

For Fay
