Sisyphus

by Sean Allen   Apr 27, 2005

Some grin, others turn away;
some shrug in confusion
when they look at me.
I've always said
that real is real.
Why start the lies right now?
One should live what one feels:

Which can be hard to remember
when you're drowning
and I've been kicking all week
but today its won for a while.

A friend sat down with
tears in his palm
and cried me something 'true.'
"Life, school, love is hard
but what do you know of these troubles
when none have slammed into you?"

Fine, rip my pride away.
Today (I'm sure) is just another beautiful,
walk in the park, no worries,
no troubles kind of day.

No troubles, except those laden
in the good intentions and
false gifts given
by unsuspecting friends.

A friend sat down with
a grin on his face.
"Glad you're around,
there's so much that needs to be done."

Okay, tear my life away.
Save the world? Make it better
when many can only
work to make it worse?
I'm just pushing the stone uphill.

Set me up but
don't expect me to win.
Well I'm just pushing
a stone uphill.

sisyphus was a greek who was punished in the afterlife by having to push a large rock up a huge hill only to have it roll down again. He had to perform this task for the rest of eternity. I hope that clarifies for future readers.
