The Beholder

by SpillCanvas   May 1, 2005

In the eye of the beholder,
Useless things are priceless jewels.
Such as love that's come and gone,
Or say, an old, worn set of tools.
In the eye of the beholder,
Love that's lost is love once won.
And a love once won will always be,
A love brighter then the sun.
In the eye of the beholder,
A broken heart will never heal.
But a broken heart tells a story,
Of a love that was once so real.
In the eye of the beholder,
Memories past are memories dear.
They hold the secret hopes, devotions,
And the broken hearts first tear.
But a broken heart, though broken now,
Was not always so.
There was a time when it was whole,
But more empty then you know.
See, broken hearts are part of life,
They make you who you are.
Without them you are incomplete,
Watching the world go by from afar.
