Mirror Images

by Ali   May 9, 2005

I'm not the person in the mirror
I'm not the face that forms my reflection
I'm the soul embedded beneath it
Somehow with low detection

It's like that's all they see,
Me
But not me
Being

The mirror doesn't tell the truth
The mirror is a lie
The mirror says I'm fine
But in my mind
It's like I'm rotting inside

I'm lost
I'm searching
Paths crossed
Feelings tossed

I'm defined by appearance
They've lost all sense
I'm getting tense
And losing tolerance

Don't be known for how you look
Be known for what you do
You're not your mirror image
You're the heart that's beating slow

Don't let the mirror fool you
