Mirror

She walks the empty streets alone
Tears running down her face
A mask of pain permanently worn
That no one can erase

She paints a perfect smile on
Conceals what's inside
Trying now to fix what broke
Shifting like the tide

She wants to know what causes is
Why does she feel so cold?
It's the deep chill within her bones
Meant only for the weary and old

There's no one left who understands
There's no one left to tell
She's hiding something she wants to be seen
Her life's a living hell

I see a glint in her faded eyes
Torn and frozen like the sea
Staring at her face I realize
I'm staring inside me
