A Heart Turned to Stone

I've lost all feeling
In my heart
I've tried to love
But I can't seem to start

I've concluded it's useless
That I shouldn't even try
Why do I bother
When it just makes me cry

Each small hope
Gets let down
Each slight smile
Turns to a large frown

So I've turned my heart
Into stone
If anyone knocks
I'm not home

I've barred the gate
Locked the door
I'm not trying love again
Not anymore

They say it will get better
That some day I'll see
They just don't seem to get
That the real problem is me

I've tried my hardest
But nothing prevailed
So I've given up trying
My heart has failed
