Night Before Dawn

by Leah~Nicole   May 19, 2005

Temptation is growing
I caress the blade
Becoming much bolder
My fear starts to fade
Slowly I lay it
Upon my wrist
I slice my skin open
Clenching my fist
Blood steadily dripping
Onto the floor
The pain’s not enough
I want to hurt more
I cut it again
One two and three
Searing pain burning
Blood flowing free
It’s not enough
The memories aren’t gone
I must do it now
Before facing the dawn
Blade is now shaking
Touching my throat
Like lightning I cut
I gasp and I choke
Blood gushing freely
All over the wall
Hand flies to my throat
And I suddenly fall
I slip into darkness
The pain immense
I go into convulsions
My whole body’s tense
The drugs that I took
Have finally kicked in
My lungs are collapsing
My blood is quite thin
My heart cannot pump
Since nothing is there
My tortured eyes slowly
Turn into blank stare…

The sun rises slowly
The first rays of light
Find a frail body
Blood shining bright
The evil of others
Destroyed her poor heart
Only in Death
Could she have a new start

I'm an abuse victim. I have been abused for 13 years (I'm 17, it started when I was 4). I've been abused by almost 20 different people. Needless to say, things like that can make a person very depressed lol. I don't actually want to commit suicide, but writing poetry is an outlet for me; a way of getting my feelings out without doing anything crazy. And thank you, I appreciate the comment. I'm glad you liked it.
